Bridges (Composite/Porcelain) are generally prescribed as an alternative to implants or dentures when just one or two teeth need to be replaced in the mouth. Implants are titanium screws which are implanted into the jawbone. This practice uses several different types of implants to allow for different factors of treatment. Implants may be used for various reasons ranging from replacing a single tooth to anchoring a full denture for more stability. Quotes for implants are best given upon consultation with a dentist due to the great variance in treatment options available. An OPG (full mouth) x-ray is normally requested to assess the amount of bone available and a CT scan may be requested in some cases. View the pictures in gallery page
This practice provides various orthodontic services ranging from fixed and/or removable appliances to full arch banding. Patients are offered a choice of metal or clear brackets for the upper teeth and a choice of coloured elastics at each monthly adjustment appointment. Due to the great variety of orthodontic treatments available quotes are given after an initial consultation with the dentist and quite frequently orthodontic records involving x-rays, photos and impressions are generally required. For full arch banding cases a payment plan is put in place to work in with the patients health fund in which approximately an initial payment of approximately 1/3 of the total quote is paid at the band up appointment and the remainder is paid off in equal monthly installments until the end of treatment which may be anywhere between 12 - 24 months. Laser Bleaching ("Smartbleach") This treatment is performed as an in-chair treatment and takes approximately 1 ½ hours of treatment time. The treatment consists of three stages of bleaching in which the teeth are coated with a concentrated hydrogen peroxide gel and is completed with a flouride gel treatment. During the treatment teeth may be prone to sensitivity but extreme sensitivity is rare. Results using this method of treatment may vary. As a result more than one treatment session may be required but is not common. This treatment is generally used to treat Tetracycline staining (antibiotic staining from childhood) or as an initial boost prior to using the home bleaching kit. For more information on Smartbleach, go to to this website: www.smartbleach.com.au Home Bleaching Kit This treatment consists of two short appointments approximately 3 - 5 days apart. At the first appointment impressions are taken of both the upper and lower arches so that bleaching trays can be fabricated to fit the individual patients teeth precisely. The bleaching trays are approximately 1-2mm thick and are colourless (see-through/invisible). At the second appointment after the trays have been made the patient is shown how to dispense the bleach and how to fit the trays correctly. The bleaching gel used is a 10% Carbamide peroxide solution which causes very little sensitivity except in extreme cases. The gel is designed to be changed in the trays every hour as after this time the bleach becomes ineffective due to being diluted with saliva. This type of treatment can give very reliable results as patients can keep bleaching until they have reached their desired colour shade. The length of time that this treatment takes does vary however depending on how often the patient manages to wear the trays/change the gel. The trays can be worn up to 8 hours a day (ie gel changed 8 times) and desired results can be acheived in as little as 2 weeks however most patients only manage 2 - 4 treatments per day and therefore desired results can often take up to 8 weeks to achieve.
