Crowns and Bridges

serv-1Crowns

Porcelain, Gold, Composite are a long term solution for teeth that have a limited prognosis if left to their own fate in the mouth. Crowns may be prescribed for the following reasons:

  • The tooth may be so heavily filled it cannot withstand the biting forces on its own
  • The tooth has previously had root canal treatment
  • Diagnosis of a crack in the tooth

Bridges

Composite and Porcelain are generally prescribed as an alternative to implants or dentures when just one or two teeth need to be replaced in the mouth. A bridge consists of a crown on one or both sides of the gap in the mouth with a false (pontic) tooth joined to the crown/s to replace the missing tooth.
